morning sun and do a triangle course. Average water
temperature is 72 - 75°F and wetsuits will be allowed.

The
purpose of this race is to give beginnners a chance to try a triathlon
on the same course as a regular triathlon, but on a smaller scale. The
300m swim course for the try-a-tri is in the warm and
shallow waters (you can stand most of the way) of Lake St. Clair. Upon
exiting the swim, your bike will be located 200m away. Once in the transition
area, you would put on whatever clothes you might feel appropriate to
bike in (some athletes bike in swim suits - it's really whatever is most
comfortable for you!), followed by a mandatory bike helmet and shoes.
You'll then walk/run your bike to the mount line located at bike exit
of the transition area. The bike course is 15km out and
back along the same course as the Tim Hortons Triathlon/Duathlon. Once
finished on the bike, you would get off your bike at the dismount line
and walk/run your bike back to your spot in the transition area (helmet
must remain on until your bike is racked). Now, you get ready for the
3km run by changing (or not). The 3km run again is along
the same route as the Triathlon/Duathlon and has plenty of water and enthusiastic
volunteers to help you finish the Try-a-Tri. After you're done, don't
forget to try some of our awesome hospitality under the Tim Hortons tent.
You can then watch the remaining athletes finish while waiting for the
awards ceremony.
